Volunteer Committee Descriptions

Volunteer Home

Maintaining crowd control, ensuring spectator safety, and helping manage player movement throughout the course. Volunteers will monitor roped-off areas, assist with noise control during play, and help guide spectators as players move between holes. Shifts take place outdoors and may require standing for long periods in direct sunlight and the elements.


PATH PATROL

Manage and facilitate the flow of spectators and carts on the main corridor of the course, especially in high-traffic areas and key crossing points. Path Patrol plays a vital role in maintaining a safe and organized environment for spectators, staff, and players. This role may require clear communication, quick decision-making, and standing for extended periods outside in direct sunlight and the elements.


ADMISSIONS

Welcome and assist with spectator entry to the course by scanning tickets (Ticketmaster equipment) and responding to miscellaneous spectator inquiries. Shifts may beoutside in direct sunlight and the elements.


TICKET SERVICES

Assist at ticketing booths, helping fans with ticket purchases, troubleshooting, and general entry questions. Also, aid in creating a smooth and welcoming arrival experience for spectators attending the tournament.


INFORMATION SERVICES

Information Services volunteers will welcome and assist spectators by providing guidance at entry points and throughout the course. Stationed at booths and on mobile teams, they are placed in high-traffic areas to help enhance the overall tournament experience for fans.


CORPORATE HOSPITALITY

Welcome, scan, and wristband corporate clients at entry venue tents. Ensure that only properly credentialed clients are permitted and provided wristbands. Assist Gallery Management with noise control as necessary when players are approaching hospitality areas. Shifts may be outside in direct sunlight and the elements. Corporate Hospitality volunteers are not permitted in hospitality venues under any circumstances.


GREEN MILE CLUB SHUTTLES

Manage and coordinate the golf cart transportation of Green Mile Club guests to and from designated pickup locations, ensuring a seamless, comfortable, and timely ride. Volunteers will serve as key liaisons, providing directions, answering questions, and maintaining smooth operations throughout the day.


CARTS

Oversee the inventory and distribution of tournament golf carts pre-tournament, during and post-tournament. This committee will also help manage maintenance of carts, including charging and upkeep. Shifts will be outside in direct sunlight and the elements.


COURSE PREP

Assist with roping, staking and barricading of the course and any other miscellaneous operational needs. Shifts are outside in direct sunlight and the elements.


ACCESSIBILITY SHUTTLES

Provide golf cart transportation for mobility impaired spectators from various points around the golf course. Volunteers will serve as key liaisons, providing directions, answering questions, and maintaining smooth operations throughout the day. Shifts are outside in direct sunlight and the elements.


SAFETY

Oversee and ensure the safety of all tournament constituents by identifying, mitigating and reporting hazards throughout tournament grounds. Shifts are outside in direct sunlight and the elements.


SUPPLY DISTRIBUTION

Distribute beverages, snacks and ice to locations on the golf course including, but not limited to, starter tents, scoring trailer, practice range, media center, volunteer village and other designated areas. Shifts are outside in direct sunlight and the elements.


CADDIE SERVICES

Oversee Caddie Hospitality by assisting PGA TOUR caddies with caddie registration, distributing towels, and preparing and issuing caddie bibs. Ensure caddie bibs are returned and laundered daily.


PLAYER SERVICES

Manage the registration process and act as a local concierge for PGA TOUR Professionals, by providing information on local services and events as well as assisting with player laundry and dry cleaning.


PLAYER TRANSPORTATION

Inventory and inspect tournament-issued courtesy cars (pre and post-tournament inspections required). Provide transportation for players, their families, and VIP guests before, during and after the tournament, to and from hotels and airports.


Work inside the ropes and assist fellow Location-Based Operators in locating player's shots in and around the fairways, or greens and identifying situations where players’ shots may be obstructed. Volunteers must be 18+ years old and must sign a Disclosure Form. This Committee works all-day shifts outside. Must complete a short online training course AND an on-course training one day of tournament week. Shifts are outside in direct sunlight and the elements.


STANDARD BEARERS

Standard Bearers will work directly with the Walking Scorer to accompany each group of players during tournament rounds and display their scores in relation to par on a cumulative basis on a standard (small scoreboard). Standard Bearers must be able to walk and carry the standard sign (weight approximately 5 to 7 pounds) for all 18 holes with their group and must understand basic stroke counting and the game of golf. Volunteers will be outside in direct sunlight and the elements.


WALKING SCORERS

Walking Scorers walk with a group of players to record scores, track stats, and input real-time data for the ShotLink system. Volunteers must be able to keep pace for all 18 holes (about 5 miles) in varying weather. An understanding of the game of golf, comfort with a handheld device and headset radio is required, as well as working outdoors in direct sunlight and the elements.


HONORARY OBSERVERS

Welcome Honorary Observer participants prior to their assigned tee time, coordinate credential distribution, review program guidelines and restrictions, and guide them to the assigned tee box. Coordinate the photo distribution process when participants reach the end of the round. Shifts may be outside in direct sunlight and the elements.


MEDIA CENTER

Assist PGA TOUR Media Officials with registration, daily operations, and welcoming local, national, and international members of the media. Volunteers will help manage the check-in process, distribute credentials, maintain workspaces, restock supplies, and support general media needs throughout the day.


MERCHANDISE

Manage guest merchandise sales during tournament week in the Fan Shop. Responsibilities include greeting guests, assisting at cash registers, and managing the complimentary bag check area. Shifts may involve standing for extended periods and working both indoors and outdoors.


OFFICE SUPPORT

Assist tournament staff prior to and during tournament week by providing general administrative duties including but not limited to answering phones, laminating, cutting and assisting with projects led by tournament staff.


SHIPPING + RECEIVING

Manage the shipping and receiving of packages for the tournament, club, manufacturers, vendors, and more. Volunteers will assist with organizing deliveries, logging incoming and outgoing shipments, and ensuring packages are routed to the appropriate locations efficiently. Attention to detail and the ability to lift boxes or operate carts may be required. Shifts may be outside in direct sunlight and the elements.


SPECIAL EVENTS & SERVICES

Assist with set up, registration, gift distribution and other tasks for special events and activities during Tournament week including the Pro-Am Pairings Party, Pro-Am and Am-Am. Shifts are outside in direct sunlight and the elements.


EVENT SUPPORT

Support and assist the tournament and volunteer team in various capacities throughout tournament week including, but not limited to gallery management, hospitality support and operations support. Shifts are outside in direct sunlight and the elements.


VOLUNTEER SUPPORT

Inventory and distribute volunteer uniforms in advance of tournament week. Manage tent where volunteers check in for their respective committees as well as come for snacks and beverages in between their shifts. Distribute radios, as needed and manage volunteer apparel sales during tournament week and maintain a clean and supportive meeting place for the volunteers.
