Truist Championship Announces Return of Birdies for Better Initiative

Registration launches Oct. 7 to nonprofit organizations, with donor participation beginning Nov. 12

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Following the success of its inaugural Birdies for Better program in 2026, the Truist Championship will bring back the charitable initiative for a second consecutive year, continuing to connect fans and donors with nonprofits across North and South Carolina ahead of the 2027 event. Nonprofit registration opens October 7, 2026, with donor participation beginning November 12.

The inaugural program saw 133 nonprofits register and collectively raise more than $2.24 million, with 100 percent of the funds raised through the program going directly to participating nonprofits. The tournament also distributed a $100,000 bonus pool among 82 fundraising charities, further amplifying the impact.

Beyond fundraising, Birdies for Better also created new opportunities for nonprofit visibility. The top five fundraising organizations were featured onsite during tournament week as a “Charity of the Day”, giving them direct exposure to fans, sponsors, volunteers and community leaders. Those organizations included:

Through Birdies for Better, supporters can make a minimum $20 contribution to the participating nonprofit of their choice and submit a guess for the total number of birdies recorded by PGA Tour players during the tournament's four competitive rounds. Participating nonprofits will receive 100% of the funds raised through the program and will also be eligible to receive a portion of the tournament's $100,000 bonus pool, which will be distributed based on each organization's fundraising totals. Nonprofits interested in participating can register HERE.

Donors who come closest to correctly guessing the total number of birdies recorded will have the opportunity to win exclusive prizes. The individual with the closest guess will receive their choice of a one-year Audi Q5 vehicle lease or a $10,000 cash prize, which may also be donated to a participating nonprofit of their choice. The runner-up will receive a VIP Culinary Experience: Date Night for a Year at Steak 48, while the third-place finisher will receive a VIP Experience for Two at the 2028 Truist Championship.

The Birdies for Better campaign will run from November 12, 2026, through May 12, 2027. Donors can participate online by visiting the program's donation page, selecting a participating charity, submitting their birdies guess and completing their contribution by credit card or Apple Pay. Supporters may also contribute directly to a nonprofit through cash or check, provided they complete a manual donation form with their birdies guess and tiebreaker responses.

In the event of a tie, participants' responses to a tiebreaker question estimating the number of balls that will land in the water along Quail Hollow Club's Green Mile (Holes 16, 17 and 18) during the competition rounds will determine the winner. An additional question regarding the number of balls that will land in the water at Hole 18 will be used if necessary.
