Truist Championship Named as PGA TOUR Championship Series Event in 2028
CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The PGA TOUR and the Truist Championship announced today that the tournament will become part of the PGA TOUR Championship Series beginning in 2028, continuing a proud legacy of more than two decades in the Charlotte area as the TOUR enters a new era with a new competitive model.
A full PGA TOUR schedule for 2028, when the PGA TOUR Championship Series debuts, will be announced at a later date.

First announced in June, the PGA TOUR Championship Series will feature the PGA TOUR’s top performers competing head-to-head across the season. There will be approximately 23-24 events, inclusive of THE PLAYERS Championship, major championships, postseason and international team events (Presidents Cup and Ryder Cup), with the season running from February through August.

The Truist Championship is in its 24th year as an annual stop on the PGA TOUR and third as a Signature Event, returning to Quail Hollow Club May 10-16, 2027.

The Truist Championship features past champions such as Tiger Woods, Rory McIlroy (4), Max Homa (2), Rickie Fowler and most recently crowned Norway’s Kristoffer Reitan as the 2026 winner. The 28-year-old PGA TOUR rookie shot 2-under 69 on Sunday to earn a two-shot win over Rickie Fowler and Nicolai Hojgaard for his first victory on TOUR.
