CHARLOTTE, North Carolina – Tournament officials announced today the field for the 2026 Truist Championship, which will be contested at Quail Hollow Club, May 6-10.
The Truist Championship, one of eight Signature Events on the PGA TOUR, will showcase a field of 72 of the PGA TOUR’s top players, headlined by World No. 2 Rory McIlroy and defending champion Sepp Straka. Other notable players set to compete at Quail Hollow Club include eight of the top 10 players in the Official World Golf Ranking: McIlroy (No. 2), Matt Fitzpatrick (No. 3), Cameron Young (No. 4), Justin Rose (No. 5), Collin Morikawa (No. 6), Tommy Fleetwood (No. 7), Xander Schauffele (No. 9), J.J. Spaun (No. 10).
PGA TOUR members can still qualify for the Truist Championship by virtue of the Aon Next 10 (10 leading players in the FedExCup standings, not otherwise exempt) or by moving inside the top 30 in the Official World Golf Ranking as of May 4, 2026. Three of the four sponsor exemptions restricted to PGA TOUR members have been announced (Tony Finau, Max Homa, Mackenzie Hughes), with the final sponsor exemption to be confirmed on Monday.
Straka, currently No. 13 in the Official World Golf Ranking, won the 2025 Truist Championship at The Philadelphia Cricket Club by two strokes over Justin Thomas and Shane Lowry, securing the fourth title of his PGA TOUR career. Straka went on to finish the season with career highs in wins (2), top-10 finishes (6), and was a member of the victorious Team Europe at the 2025 Ryder Cup.
McIlroy won the 2024 Truist Championship in historic fashion the last time it was played at Quail Hollow, chasing the lead entering the final round one stroke behind Schauffele to win the event for a record-setting fourth time in his career (2010, 2015, 2021) and for the second time on Mother’s Day (2021); the only other player with multiple wins at the event is Max Homa (2019, 2022). McIlroy enters the 2026 Truist Championship coming off another historic victory at the Masters Tournament, where he became the fourth player to successfully defend his title at Augusta National.
In addition to McIlroy and Straka, the 23rd playing of the Truist Championship will feature five other past champions: Homa (2019, 2022), Jason Day (2018), Brian Harman (2017), Rickie Fowler (2012) and Lucas Glover (2011).
