Truist Championship Profiles: Matt Fitzpatrick, Ludvig Åberg and Xander Schauffele

With two weeks until the Truist Championship reconvenes at Quail Hollow Club, May 6-10, PGA TOUR winners Matt Fitzpatrick, Ludvig Åberg and Xander Schauffele will be among those vying for the title as part of a stellar field in Charlotte.

Matt Fitzpatrick

Four-time PGA TOUR winner and World No. 3 heads to Quail Hollow Club in strong form after defeating World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler in a playoff at last week’s RBC Heritage, securing the fourth PGA TOUR title of his career and second of the season (Valspar Championship). The 31-year-old will make his fifth appearance at the Truist Championship where he previously recorded a runner-up finish in 2022 when it was played at TPC Potomac at Avenel Farm.

Ludvig Åberg

A rising force on the PGA TOUR, Ludvig Åberg has enjoyed a strong start to the 2026 season with four top‑10 finishes in his last five starts on TOUR, including a T3 at the Arnold Palmer Invitational presented by Mastercard, a T5 at THE PLAYERS Championship and a T4 at last week’s RBC Heritage. With two PGA TOUR wins on his resume, the native Swede has proven himself as one of the game’s elite young talents. 2026 will mark his second career start at the Truist Championship and second appearance at Quail Hollow after competing in the 2025 PGA Championship.

Xander Schauffele

A 10-time PGA TOUR winner, PGA TOUR fan-favorite Xander Schauffele arrives in strong form with four top-10 finishes already this season, highlighted by a third-place showing at THE PLAYERS Championship. The 2026 event marks Schauffele’s seventh appearance at the Truist Championship, where he has consistently contended, posting runner-up finishes in both 2023 and 2024. His return adds another marquee name to an already elite field and underscores Quail Hollow’s reputation as a stage for the game’s biggest stars.
