Truist Championship Profiles: Sepp Straka, Justin Thomas, Jordan Spieth

Just under 40 days remain until the Truist Championship reconvenes at Quail Hollow Club, May 6-10. The Truist Championship sets the stage for the 2026 event by showcasing defending champion Sepp Straka, 16-time PGA TOUR winner Justin Thomas and fan-favorite Jordan Spieth among the first to commit to the field.

Sepp Straka

Defending champion Sepp Straka has committed to defend his title at the 2026 Truist Championship, which will return to its annual home at Quail Hollow Club. A four-time PGA TOUR winner, Straka captured the 2025 title during the tournament’s one-year stop in Philadelphia and continues to cement his place among the TOUR’s elite, with additional victories at The American Express (2025), the John Deere Classic (2023) and the Cognizant Classic in The Palm Beaches (2022). The Austrian has carried that momentum into the current season, notching early success with two top-10 finishes, including a runner-up showing at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am and a T8 at THE PLAYERS Championship. The 2026 edition marks Straka’s seventh Truist Championship start and his return to Quail Hollow Club—where he posted a best finish of T8 in 2024—as he looks to defend his title on familiar and formidable ground.

Justin Thomas

Sixteen-time PGA TOUR winner Justin Thomas has committed to compete in the 2026 Truist Championship, adding one of the game’s most accomplished and recognizable stars back to the field. A two-time major champion and winner of THE PLAYERS Championship in 2021, Thomas captured his first major title at the 2017 PGA Championship at Quail Hollow Club, where he famously closed with a final-round 3-under-par 68 to secure a two-stroke victory.

The 32-year-old will be making his eighth appearance in the Truist Championship. His tournament resume includes a runner-up finish (T2) at the 2025 event at The Philadelphia Cricket Club, along with a T7 in his tournament debut at Quail Hollow Club in 2015.

Thomas is in the process of returning to peak competitive form as he continues to recover from back surgery in November. In three starts this season, his strongest performance came at THE PLAYERS Championship, where his T8 finish served as an encouraging sign for the remainder of his 2026 season.

Jordan Spieth

Three-time major champion and 13-time PGA TOUR winner Jordan Spieth is set to compete in the 2026 Truist Championship, returning to Quail Hollow Club via a sponsor exemption. Spieth’s storied career

includes one of the most accomplished seasons in modern PGA TOUR history in 2015, which saw the native Texan win five times including two major championships and the FedExCup title. At Quail Hollow, Spieth delivered one of the most impressive performances at the 2022 Presidents Cup, finishing with a perfect 5-0-0 record and leading the U.S. Team to victory.

The 2026 event will mark Spieth’s fifth career start at the Truist Championship, where his best finish is a T29 in 2024. This season, Spieth has made eight starts and shown steady form, highlighted by three top-20 finishes at The Genesis Invitational (T12), the Arnold Palmer Invitational presented by Mastercard (T11) and the Valspar Championship (T11), as he looks to contend on one of the TOUR’s most demanding courses.
